Leave a little room for local curiosity.
Boots on, leaves underfoot. Fall in Culpeper is a good excuse to take the long way home and enjoy a little time outside before the rake comes out.
This week, we’re taking that thought from boots to shoes, and from getting outside to giving back. Allison Foster’s story at Culpeper Christian School shows how a shoe drive became a lesson in generosity. Settle in for “More Than Shoes: Allison Foster’s Lesson in Giving.”

Halloween at Ovoka is getting the GATHER treatment.

Allison Foster and family
Allison Foster's goal is 2,250 pairs of shoes. Students at Culpeper Christian School are already busy pairing and bagging donations, including shoes that have never been worn.
For the school's Parent Teacher Fellowship president, the sorting is part of a bigger lesson. Find out what Foster hopes students take away from the drive.
Inside the Triassic Gallery at the Museum of Culpeper History
In 1989, dinosaur tracks were uncovered at Culpeper Stone Company, a quarry near town. Today, a set of those tracks is part of the Museum of Culpeper History's Triassic Gallery. It's a reminder that Culpeper's story stretches far beyond the buildings and streets we know, and a reason to take a closer look on your next museum visit.
